 Shanghai International Funeral Form—Funeral Equipment Trade Fair, sponsored by Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau, organized by Shanghai Funeral & Interment Service Center and co-organized by Shanghai Funeral & Interment Association and Shanghai International Exchange Center for Social Welfare, is an international conference in funeral service industry. The theme for the second forum is “Environmental Protection in Funeral”, which will be held at Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition Center International Hotel on November 16th – 19th, 2004. This forum and trade fair is also greatly supported by China Funeral & Interment Association.

Environmental protection and pollution reduction are major concerns for the sustainable development in the 21st century. Surrounded by crises, people are supposed to adopt an optimal production mode to save consumption and energy, reduce the pollution as well as promote the multiplication of natural resources during each funeral activity, also one of the important human activities. In China, there are around 40,000 funeral practitioners along with nearly 3,000 funeral businesses, including funeral parlors, crematories, cemeteries, etc. China’s funeral service, developing in a rapid, healthy and coordinated fashion, should bear its responsibility in environmental protection and pollution reduction, meanwhile efforts should be made to contribute to a clean and ecological world capable of sustainable growth.

The forum and trade fair aims to provide a platform for exchanges of advanced funeral products and equipment, as well as sharing of successful experience and practice by means of conferences, seminars and equipment trade, etc. Meanwhile, this forum and trade fair also offers an opportunity for worldwide funeral manufacturers to understand China’s market and cooperate with relevant parties in China. With the theme of “Environmental Protection in Funeral”, there will be nine topics for discussions at conferences and seminars. Furthermore, experts, scholars, government officials in civil affairs and company representatives from both home and abroad will participate in this forum. The trade fair is furnished with 68 stalls attended by domestic and overseas manufacturers.

This forum and trade fair is a great event for China’s funeral and interment industry. We would like to invite our fellows in funeral industry to contribute your articles and attend the conference.
